Nearly 350 industry professionals attended SEAA’s 45th Convention and Trade Show in Myrtle Beach, S.C., in April. Attendees came from across the country, representing companies that are based in at least 30 U.S. States.

Education sessions covered topics from AWP standards to Vets becoming ironworkers. According to a post-event survey 87.5 percent of attendees found the topics presenting during convention to be highly relevant to their job.

New during the tradeshow was an outdoor exhibit area for equipment. On display was an AC45-127S crane from Altec, a 660SJ telescopic boom lift from JLG and United Rentals, and two Magni telescopic handlers from Blue Hat Crane and ML Cranes & Equipment.

Among those recognized for their contributions to the industry and the association were Charlie Johnson, Duke Perry, and Dave Brown. Johnson of Steel Performance Inc., Greensboro, N.C., received the association’s highest honor, the William Davis Service Award. A tie vote for the annual Person of the Year award resulted in two individuals being recognized. Duke Perry of Bluearc Stud Welding, Braselton, Ga., and Dave Brown, Sr., from United Rentals.
