Projects of the Year are presented during the annual convention. Winners are recognized and participate in a panel discussion about their jobs. Projects are recognized in four categories.
Class I: Erection Contract of
up to $500,000 Class II: Erection Contract of $500,000 to $1 Million Class III: Erection Contract of $1 Million to $2.5 Million Class IV: Erection Contract of $2.5 Million and above |

Jack Vernon Nix, Jr., Vice President of Operations for Shelby Erectors, Inc., was named the 2018 Person of the Year by the Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA).
Selected annually by the Board of Directors, the Person of the Year is awarded during the Annual Convention. Each year, an individual who has given tirelessly of their time and talents for benefit of the association is honored.

The SEAA Education Committee annually awards one Craft Training Grant to a member that has applied to become an NCCER accredited Training Unit (TU) and Assessment Site (AAS) in the previous year. The grant, not to exceed $4500, is awarded at the Annual Convention.

![]() The SEAA Safety Excellence Awards are presented to steel erection companies who go above and beyond in the effort to provide their Ironworkers a safe place to work.
These companies are proactive in their safety mindset and when compared to their steel erection peers excel at protecting their employees. These companies are playing critical roles in the development of our Ironworker tradesman at a time when tradesman shortages are at an all-time high. This lifetime achievement award is the association’s highest honor. It is given in memory of William Davis, who held board and committee positions with SEAA in the 1980s and 1990s. The award recipient is selected by the Board of Directors. Recipients have dedicated their careers to improving the steel erection industry beyond the scope of their individual jobs or businesses.
