Relationships and Resources for Rebar Contractors
Reinforcing Steel Erectors Helped to Found SEAA
“In the 1970s, most members of SEAA were rebar contractors. With the formation of concrete contractor associations in the 1980s, many of these members drifted away. However, SEAA has much to offer rodbusters, and we know that structural steel and reinforcing steel erectors share many of the same challenges.” |

Apprenticeship Standard and Certifications
SEAA’s U.S. DOL-approved Ironworker Apprenticeship Standard includes the occupation of Reinforcing Ironworker Concrete in addition to Structural Steel Ironworker.
SEAA members work on both structural and reinforcing steel projects, however, the tasks and training needed to be a reinforcing ironworker are different from those for a structural ironworker. This apprenticeship standard reflects the knowledge and skills required for both types of ironworkers.
It provides members with a model for creating and registering formal training programs that meet both State and Federal government requirements for local apprenticeships.
