Open to individuals working in the steel construction industry, the winning design will be reproduced into stickers available for members to use as part of their Fall Prevention Stand Down efforts in May 2022.  Hard hat sticker designs must be original artwork and should reflect one of three themes:    Preventing Falls in Construction  Building America Safely  Proud to be an Ironworker  The winner will be announced in a press release distributed to industry media, and will receive 250 hard hat stickers featuring their design and a $100 gift card.  Deadline to submit is February 15.  View Contest Rules Joe Theismann named Keynote Speaker for 50th Anniversary Convention 2022 is an exciting year for SEAA. The organization is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, and the Convention and Trade Show will resume to its normal schedule. Join us April 5-8, in Charleston, S.C. to celebrate 50 years of being STEEL STRONG!     The keynote speaker is entrepreneur and former star quarterback for the Washington Redskins, Joe Theismann. Theismann has spent the last 20 years working for ESPN and the NFL Network as an NFL analyst, and is an Emmy award winning analyst.     “Attendees will get to celebrate the milestone anniversary in style on the USS Yorktown, a World War II aircraft carrier, located at Patriots Point. The venue is the setting for the Gala and Awards Presentations, where we will honor long-time members and former Presidents,” said Carrie Gulajan, Events Committee Chairperson. Attendees will have spectacular views of Charleston Harbor and Charleston Historic District from the USS Yorktown. More. Industry Reports Dodge Construction Network Provides Insight on 2022 Construction  Dodge Construction Network, the leading provider of data, analytics in the commercial construction industry, has released a report, Construction Industry Outlook 2022, Adapt and Thrive in an Evolving Market. The report states that higher material prices, shortages of key materials, and a lack of skilled labor will complicate the construction sector’s ability to take full advantage of stronger economic growth.  Dodge Construction Network cites The Producer Price Index, stating that construction materials were 31 percent higher in September 2021 than the previous year. This suggests that material pricing will remain historically high— particularly as infrastructure dollars hit the market.   The report provides insight and current economic statistics for commercial, residential, manufacturing, and nonbuilding (public works, streets and bridges, and utility) construction. Member Updates Shelby Erectors Represents Rodbusters on Dirty Jobs Shelby Erectors, a Florida bridge and rebar company, was featured on the season premiere of Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe earlier this month. In the episode, Rowe travels outside Tampa, Florida, to meet with Shelby Erectors who is tasked with completing a bridge in one day. “Their work is both artistic and critical, but the results of their labor are always covered with concrete – out of sight and out of mind. We’re going to fix that,” said Rowe. Stream the episode now on Discovery+.   Hilti Becomes Official Tool Sponsor of the Dallas Cowboys Hilti North America, Plano, Texas, has been named the official tool partner of the Dallas Cowboys. The agreement includes stadium signage and corporate events at both AT&T Stadium in Arlington and The Star in Frisco.
