Register for Golf Tournament to Support Safety, Training and Education
In 2021, SEAA renamed the annual Education Fundraiser Golf Tournament in memory of Dave Schulz, SEAA past president, who was instrumental in organizing the event for many years. The 2021 tournament will be held in Orlando, Fla., on October 12, preceding the 48th Convention & Trade Show.  

The Captain’s Choice style tournament is open to members and non-members. More.
SEAA Offers Trade Show Promos for Exhibitors
SEAA’s Trade Show provides erectors and fabricators a chance to see the latest products, services and innovations they need for safer, more productive work site. This year, SEAA is offering exhibitors a choice of indoor or outdoor booth locations, and all exhibitors have the option to participate in live demonstrations at no extra cost.  

“We will have three hours of dedicated trade show time, with hands-on presentations from exhibitors for a highly-engaged trade show experience,” said Carrie Gulajan, Chairman of the Convention Committee. More.

NASCC: The Virtual Steel Conference to Feature 150+ Sessions
The American Institute of Steel Construction’s NASCC: The Virtual Steel Conference kicks off Monday, April 12 and runs through Friday, April 16.

With more than 150 sessions presented by the people driving today’s industry innovation, The Virtual Steel Conference has practical, actionable information for everyone--particularly erectors.

In addition, more than 200 exhibitors will highlight their latest innovations in a virtual exhibit hall. Appointments are available throughout the week, and exhibitors will be online to chat live each day.

SEAA Stands with Ironworkers, Tie-Off to Prevent Falls Campaign
SEAA supports the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. The week-long focus on fall prevention will be held May 3-7, 2021.

Erectors are encouraged to plan events at their job sites. In April, SEAA will distribute to members tips for holding an effective safety stand down and recommendations on topics relevant to fall prevention in steel erection. Members will have the option to order banners and hard stickers to utilize during their events. More.

1.7 millions Studs Shot in 2020 by Gardner-Watson Studs
Turnkey stud installation company Gardner-Watson Studs, Oldsmar, Fla., announces that the company shot 1.7 million studs in its first year of business.

“We prioritize safety and precision, which enables our crews to maintain tight schedules on large projects,” said Duke Perry, VP of Sales and Operations. “Recently we installed 31,891 studs in a single day by multiple crews at different sites across the country,” he said. “As we closed out our first year of business, we appreciate the partnerships we have with customers who made this possible. I could not be prouder of the accomplishments of our employees in the field.”

65-story Spiral Topped Out in Midtown Manhattan
Banker Steel Company, Lynchburg, V.A., Topped out "The Spiral" in January 2021. The building stands at 65 stories tall and features 31,500 tons of structural steel, all fabricated by Banker Steel Company and erected by NYC Constructors.
Located in the Hudson Yards district of Midtown Manhattan, this beauty is so named because of the spiral design of the terraces that circle the exterior of the building. More.
SEAA Board Member Joins Festival of Construction Panel Discussion
SEAA board member Jack Nix, vice president of operations for Shelby Erectors, Inc., participated in a panel discussion, "Navigating Changes and Shortages in the AEC Workforce" at the NY Festival of Construction virtual event.

The panel discussed how workforce changes impact the building process from design to build, along with the evolving relationships between designers, builders and owners.

Magni America Merges U.S. Operations
Magni Telescopic Handlers, Roselle, N.J., has merged its Kansas and New Jersey operations into a combined division named Magni America. The manufacturer of rotating and fixed boom telehandlers, based in Italy, said both the New Jersey and Kansas facilities will remain in operation with both locations stocking Magni machines, parts and attachments.
