OSHA Gets New construction director

Scott Ketcham has been chosen by the U.S. Department of Labor as the new director of OSHA’s Directorate of Construction (DOC).

Ketcham has been acting as head since January 2019, succeeding Dean McKenzie.   

While Ketcham had previously held the positions as DOC deputy director for more than two years, he has also served in various other roles at OSHA for 19 years. Ketcham has a background in construction, general industry, and maritime. He is also a Certified Safety Professional.   

According to Loren Sweatt, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health, Ketcham demonstrates strong leadership and is confident that he will assure safe working conditions for construction workers.   

The DOC is a division of OSHA that develops construction related workplace safety standards while assisting other agencies in enforcing construction laws and standards. The DOC is also in charge of coordinating construction education and training outreach programs.   ​
