INDUSTRY REPORTS

September is National Suicide Prevention Month

The construction industry has a suicide rate four times the national average for working-age adults. Within the construction industry, Ironworkers and Rebar Contractors rank in the top three construction occupations impacted by suicide.

Consider for a minute the number of fatalities due to falls in steel erection (11 in 2021, according to BLS data), and think about how much emphasis the industry puts on fall prevention. Suicides on the job equaled the same number of people who died from falls (11 in 2019.) Read More and check back for a November webinar on the topic with a guest speaker from the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention.

SteelDays 2023 is Right Around the Corner

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) is hosting its annual SteelDays from October 17-20, 2023. SteelDays is the celebration of the structural steel industry, sponsored by the AISC and hosted by its members and partners. SteelDays is an opportunity for steel fabricators to connect with AEC professionals.

SteelDays offers events throughout the country for AEC professionals, faculty and students, and the public to see firsthand how the vibrant U.S. structural steel industry works to build our country's buildings and bridges.
